    Default This weekend's haul

A flea market and two barn sales produced these items this weekend. I get them pretty cheap if they have a little rust or a cracked scale which is fine by me because I enjoy the projects. left side top: Pike Mfg. Co. (my second Pike in two weeks!), Frederick Reynolds, Wade & Butcher, Wostenholm Pipe razor, Torrey..... Right side top: John Prince (cracked blade), Wostenholm IXL, Engstrom, Russ. The hones are a two sided Regal and a three line Swaty. I've been able to find some stuff lately but it will come to a grinding halt around here in the winter months. Enjoying the hunt while I can.

This was at a barn sale, maybe it's an old chunk of slate?

The last one is a ladies razor.

That's a sweet engstrom frame back I think. If it is, should have some stamp about the mine along the spine.I have one similar and love the shave from it.
    Nice score!

Yes that one in particular caught my eye. I've never had one before. It is weird because the frame has rust but the blade seems pretty clean and very nice. I am wondering the best way to clean up the rust on the frame? It would be easy if I were able to take the blade out but I'm not sure that's a good idea. Lacking experience with frame backs. Any thoughts?

The old chunk of slate looks to have clamps for a Leather strop at one time . Take it apart and lap the stone. 'Could be a winner!
    Nice haul for sure!

Tape the blade to work the spine, but I'd not take that apart, blade wise. Think they are different metals, hence the different corrosion, but I could be wrong.

It seems the vendors at the flea market that have razors with a little rust or cracked scales are often antiques store owners who don't want to put ones with rust or cracked scales in the display cases in their store, and don't want to deal with the headache of ebay.

OK, yep, that's what I'll do. Yeah I think you are right about different metals, the blade has a different color and feel than the frame. Thanks
