I would assume that this is made by the same Samsung that now makes the smartphones. They're family has been a big name in Korea for a few generations an I understand.

That is very close. Amazing, however I find it odd that a Korean company would imitate a Japanese company with the cultural tensions that exist there.

I think it all comes down to what sells. Look at all the Soviet made Gillette knockoffs. However, I'm sure the South Koreans probably won't be copying the infamous kitty razor of DPRK.

True. Sometimes it is also that they may have been made to be spiteful too. We made one very similar, except ours are way better. I can see that thrown out there with a little attitude to accompany it. I had not really thought of it like that until you said Gillette and Russia together in the same sentence. It is a nice razor all the same. I have not used it a lot, but it seems to have held it's edge that it came with fairly well.

I find it interesting as a design in the sense that it is fully trying to mimic a hollow ground, not be high strung and really stiff the way a french or swedish fb would be

The russian copies of the gillettes are pretty shockingly bad. The polish wizamet adjustable copy is excellent.

It was bad oversight on the part of samsung or whoever made this to not plug the unfilled bit of the channel cut in the frame for the blade. Should have plugged it with metal or resin to prevent water ingress
