I ran across these on the bay and made an offer then a counter offer. Mappin Webb . Can't wait till they get here. I have one that was given to me by a very good friend. Hope these are as good.

Thanked: 4827It looks like the ivory is drawn to you. They look like a nice pair. I'm sure you will be able to get them tuned just right.

Thanked: 4827It is impossible to see from the picture or likely even pictures in general if it is on the scales or in the scales. I often try to save them as a little bit of the history behind the letters, even if the letters mean nothing to me. All of the ones I have are just scratched in and not neatly stenciled as those are.

Mappin & Webb are the Rolex of the straight razor world. They always seem to have used quality materials. Someone could have re-scaled them but I have never seen original faux Ivory scales on a Mappin & Webb and I have a "few"
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one

I may not try to remove the lettering. It really depends on how it looks in hand. This will make 3 mappins and i may try for one more. if so i have a nice 4 razor box that they will fit in nicely.

You know when you can tell your getting old. you look at one ebay item and bid on another. these are the ones i actually won. no lettering. the others was listed as 5/8 and these are 11/16. Monday and tuseday on the spine i think. either way they look good and are listed as no damage on scales or blade. should clean up and hone good. still can't wait to use them. If the others are still on the bay when i get these and these are good i will probably bid on the ones with the lettering. That is if i can remember it.
