Vintage Wade&Butcher
First I'd like to thank tintin for turning me on to Maggard Razors in Adrian MI.
The wife and I took a ride out that way today and I suggested we stop in there. Mentioned they had a women's section....good idea right?
Well as she was discussing a starter kit for women with a very nice lady that worked there, I began browsing the SRs and saw this one
Well she picked out a nice set and was going all happy over all the soaps and AS lotions. Kept saying I'm spending a lot. LOL I said it's fine hunny as I had already told them I'd take the vintage Wade&Butcher
The owner is a member here, but hasn't posted in a long time as he's been very busy. His username is undream. He redid the scales on this SR.
There were so many soaps, pastes and lotions it was incredible. A great selection of Safety Razors and a few Straights.
Definitely a place we will be going back to once a month to try new soaps and "browse" the selection.

Great to hear. I've started laying the ground work with the wife. She loves the smell of my CF lime cream. I've told her it is a shaving dream to use...great cushion and glide. She's nibbling a bit, but hasn't taken the hook yet.
I'll admit there's a tiny part of me that wants her to get fever so I can feed my own additions.Keep it safe and Cheers,
Jer

Thanked: 227I'm also trying to get the wife to buy in. But mostly because she uses a cartridge razor, and well what kind of wet shaving man can allow that in his house for too long? 😜

I couldn't get that lucky. The daughter likes, Mamma Bear's, vanilla and hazelnut. And the wife likes a few that are, shall we say...fruity/ tropical. But she really likes the MDC lavender sample (heaping tablespoon), that Ultra sound guy ( Johnathan ) sent me.
Still got a bit of it....let her use it, when I want something. Hint. Hint[emoji6]Mike

I think my wife and all you fellas women will come around to it. Wet shaving is the way to go. And disposable razors are vicious expensive mean creatures

The Wade & Butcher that you picked up, do you know what the horn is? Has a nice pattern/streakingness.
BTW. The daughter wants to try my Valet Autostrop. (Old style) I think she'll be better off with her grandfather's DE to start with. I think the open comb might want to bite a bit for her, being these are what she's use to.
Its a three bladed, soap impregnated (like a deodorant bar, with a pivoting razor cartridge, built in.) disposable razor cartridge.
As the soap wears down, the blades drop down with it.
You can see were the soap was originally attached on to the outer frame.
I haven't looked at how much the are, nor do I want to. But look at all that plastic waste. You could almost make a set of scales from that much plastic..!!!Mike

Great looking razor. That has a neat spine and the patterning on the horn is excellent. I would definitely go to Maggard if I lived anywhere within a halfway reasonable radius. It would be nice to see all those soaps and creams in person and get to smell them, figure out which ones I like. Can't quite do that on the internet.

Thanked: 250I never saw one of those before Mike. You don't have to answer but I have to ask---> Did you ever try one of those contraptions?
