Nice set you've got yourself there.
Try them out you may well be pleasantly surprised.

Typically ivory is pinned collarless, there are exceptions. There were also some great looking imitations. tap it on your tooth.

Very pretty set. After seeing the closeup photos of the handles, I'm confident they're ivory. Given the collared pins, the composition wedges, and the style of the box, I'd say they date to the early 20th century, probably somewhere from 1900-1930.

Great looking set and super clean! I think you did well, 4/8 is not most fellas favorite razor but I have 1 razor of that size and it does its job very well. Really light and fast, fun to use everynow and again. Nice score

Yea I didn't know they were so small till I already drove there but they were so clean I figured why not .i was going to have them all honed but since there just 4/8 I prolly just do one or two for mustache and back up .

From your first photo, and the collars, looks to me like faux ivory scales...ivory scales, like tortoise, are very, very thin scales...but gorgeous set.

I don't know Andrew.... I may have to side with Hanlon and say real Ivory. It it really hard to say from just pictures though, and I may be wrong. Just the sheen of the light reflection in post 9 is saying to me ivory.

At any rate, the set is fantastic and I think you did very well with the price you paid. Might cost you a bit to get them all honed up properly though. Not sure how proficient you are at honing, but maybe hang onto them until you are able to do it yourself. You don't want to ruin a set that nice with a bad hone job.

I'm with the majority.. Not ivory.
Scales are quite thick for ivory IMO. That and the collars are a usual sign.
You could heat a needle an lightly touch the inside of the scales (out of view). Bone and ivory don't smoke or melt.
    But that's up to you.

You have gotten yourself a very nice set and 4/8's can shave just fine.

All true. Those are the *usual* signs. But I've seen multiple ivory handled razors that buck those trends. It isn't common. But it does happen.
