    Never knew that, thanks.
my keen kutter, two sided was gouged badly and quite dished. I lapped it on a lapping plate with lapping grit, not on sandpaper.
It 'seemed' to bring it back to true and still is a good quick hone, although I never tried it pre lapping as it was just too beat up.
Never read about this natural burnishing of barber hones...

    Good point thank you.
Just found some info on it in the form, it is indeed a private labeled Escher!

Neil Miller's post. There were two BT Co red ones for sale recently. Both Eschers. One here and one on Ebay.

I have heard of this before, but I've never come across a barbers hone that was true. I've lapped all if mine with sandpaper, progressing from 220 - 1000, then bevel the edges. I've had no I'll effects from this.

Why thank you Speedster [emoji41] They really need to make it so we can adjust the color on the emojis, let's say maybe envy green lol
I know in my short time here that feature would have been used numerous times lol

    All cleaned up.
Will the crack in the B.T Co cause issues?
Do I just need to try it to see?
How high of a grit should I go with the sandpaper?
I hope everyone enjoyed their day!

    I go to 1000 mostly.
So is it a Thurigan, or just slate.
Looks like slate to me. JMO

That little fissure is likely nothing. The test is to pass a razor over it and see if you can feel it.

    Ok thanks.
Both are bonafide Thurigans from my research [emoji851]
