    Wow.
    Great idea for a jig!

    Great job Pete.
I too made one of those blade holders for working it by hand.
And I do more by hand than I do with the buffer anymore. Still break out the buffer now and then but doing it by hand is more enjoyable. Work work and time but more fun.

The scales are horn and are actually translucent at the wedge end.
The wedge is made out of the scale material which was left a bit higher on each side.
    Took a beautiful edge.
I'm happy to add this one to the Sheffield herd.

Har! Tom has but one. I was in the bidding on this one, yet low as it had a bit broken-off up top as i perceived it. Besides.....I have one! Anyhoo, it went way above me!

You have done a remarkable job cleaning it up, Pete!

Nice job. Back in the day it was called a half rattler grind.

Awesome work Pete. I think I saw one (maybe that one) on the Bay a bit a go and remember having similar thoughts and was oh so tempted...great find and save! Glad it has a good home and shared with the this community! I for one can't get enough of the Sheffields.

If that was a recent ebay purchase I bid on it. Ended up buying the celebrated double swaged concave razor soon after losing. I feel like I paid by the letter. Nice buy and nice cleanup, it looks great and I don't see many of those.
