Happy birthday mate, that's a fine looking Boker.

I find anything from the shop in question comes shave ready. The proprietor says it's a matter of pride for them. My 6/8 edelweiss shaved like a dream out the gate.

That is good to know. Does that mean that they hone their razors before sending them out? I have never had a factory edge quite that good and some were very bad.

I think I have the answer to my question in the previous post. I had emailed the retailer thanking them for their prompt service and included sample gifts. I also commented to them how surprised I was to find the factory edge was good to go out of the box. I got a reply and in part it said that they had passed on my comment about the factory edge, anonymously, to Boker. From that I gather they do not hone the razors before sending them out. Add Theoman's comment on his Boker, bought from the same retailer, and it seems Boker may have a handle on their factory edges.

Would be nice for other manufacturers to follow suit.
