    Default A Father's Day/Birthday gift to myself

Decided that this year I deserved a nice gift so ordered a Boker Edelweiss LE 5/8 Spanish point razor. It arrived at 1930 this evening. Well pleased with what I saw and after looking at the factory edge have decided to give it a good stropping before use just to see what happens. It also appears to be a bellied blade, bonus.

Looks nice, Bob. I have an old one, really like the shave.
Anxious to see how it shaves! Happy Birthday/Father's Day!

I have ordered my own fathers day and birthday gifts a lot in the past. These days I. Pretty happy with a call or message. It looks like a pretty good choice to me. I think my display are full right now, so no more razors until I make some new displays.
    Happy birthday and Father’s Day.

Yeah....I buy my own-self gifts and tell them to take me out to eat.

I ordered a strop for Father's day....Hope it gets here by then? Nah!

So is to-morrow Edelweiss (or Boker) day on SOTD?

No, I'm off the SOTD photos for a while longer yet until we get the new house finished renovating.

Be anxious no long though. I did a close and comfortable 4 pass shave about an hour ago. Looks like strop and go was the right decision. It shaves as well as the razors I have honed, that might not be saying much though, so I am happy with the factory edge. It beat the factory edge on the new TI That I bough a while back by a country mile. The blade sings nicely too.

Happy Birthday/Father's Day Bob. If I don't get something for myself, no one else will. However, no one had better forget Mother's Day at our house or they're in big trouble. My son's girlfriend is always good at reminding him to give me a call, and my daughter is usually out of town working on a special project and might not think of calling. That's a gem of an Edelweiss. I do miss your SOTD. I used to always watch for your photos so that I'd know that it was OK to post mine for the next day.

It's great as they provide a shave ready out of the box.
We expect that with a new one!

    A good day!

Very nice, love the Spanish point, and factory edge....only had one razor with a passable factory edge, and that was a TI Spartacus I purchased from Phil when I visited him and Jane. He asked me just for the sake of it, give it a try and let him know what I thought, as I wasn't honing then, he said he'd then hone it for me for free.

Happy B-Day and Father's Day...reno's going on in my house as well...new floors upstairs, new stairs and iron work, final stop, need doors for all the bedrooms upstairs.

My wife decided, about 8 years ago, that she wanted to swap the doors out, removed all the hardware from the doors, then promptly lost it all..so no hardware on doors all these years hahaha...

Love getting renovations done, but like it the best when they're done and they leave.....LOL

    A good day!

Unfortunately, I have come to expect a non shave ready factory edge on the few new production razors I have been able to talk myself into buying. The Boker was a refreshing change to that. I do not know if all new productions Bokers are like this one was. If they are Boker deserves a lot of credit.

Yupper, I know what you mean and will be glad when it is over for this year. So far new bathroom and kitchen, new flooring, all new interior doors and baseboards, new closet doors and I had the privilege of painting the entire interior including the trim. Still waiting for the new roof to be done and all new windows installed. Then there will be all new blinds. Not sure if this is a renew or a rehab. Doing the basement can wait till next year. I'll be happy when the move to the new house is done and our old place sold.
