    Unpinning, can be just as bad. I did my first collarless pinning on a two day set of ivory. Shook like a dog crapping glass, but kept my nerve. The second one was a piece of cake.

    Uh...That's not pearl, Mike!
    Most of the time with these scales the blade has rattled-around, the wedge has spun.
    Someone has usually screwed with them.

    Just handling them makes the pin gnaw on the pearl. Most I have seen are too wallowed-out to collarless-peen again. Getting them unpinned without damage is tough.

    Yet, I digress!
