I used DEs for many years and then switched to a straight which I used many years also. About two years ago I suffered a minor heart attack and for the following two years I was on blood thinners and I learned at that time normal shaving produces these really minor micro micro cuts that don't normally do anything but maybe burn a tad however on blood thinners you learn they are cuts and you get this like single tiny drop of blood that just kind of stays there and stays wet.

So, though I'm off the drugs now I only occasionally use a straight now. I really became accustomed to the DE again and after experimenting with many DEs and blades with the right combo you can get a shave that actually does equal a straight believe it or not.

Of course it takes less time to shave and you don't have to factor in honing and stropping be that something you like or not. Personally, I always enjoyed it. Maybe I'm just getting old now, I don't know but I prefer the DE these days.

Now I use a Janus DE with either feather or Kai blades.
