    Default And Here it is

I took my lovely wife of 43 years to the Dollar Store today. I really can't stand the place but she loves to go there. Then I remembered there was supposed to be a DE razor for $1.00 there. I told her to go have fun looking around. I went to the shave aisle and I'll be damned, there it was. A double edge with a 5 pack of blades. I just couldn't resist! I don't know if I want to shave with it though. But I can say I paid $1.00 for it!

You know you've got to try it. I too want to hear what you think.

Did you buy some of the cheap bandages too? Just thinkin’ about cheap DE blades.

I know after using a cheapie I bought at Walmart the first time, it started to rust. I smelled the oxidation when I went to shave with it the second time. Pitched it in the garbage.

All right, you have convinced me. I will try it out this evening and get back to you on what kind of shave it delivered.

    Okay here's the skinny:

When I opened the razor it felt really light almost like plastic. It's made of some sort of very light cheap metal. Quality is atrocious.

The blades looked like ordinary DE blades and under magnification with a 16X loupe, it wasn't actually that bad. Seemed the bevels were even but had a lot of tiny scratch marks.

The shave was just tolerable. It wasn't good nor was it bad. It did a two pass (WTG & ATG) shave and it did the job. The usual comfort level wasn't there but again it did deliver a tolerable shave.

If I had nothing else to shave with, this razor would suffice. I'll stick with my nice straight razors. This was just a novel idea that we had talked about in some previous posts. So, if you have a spare dollar and want to try it, understand it's not worth more than the dollar you are going to spend.

I've never seen razors in our Dollar Store here in Ontario and we don't have a shave isle, we do have an isle that sells toothbrushes and soap etc so i will look next time i visit.

To be fair though, I wouldn't know a decent DE shave it it bit me on the bum.

I bought a Merkur off of Amazon for $34 I think. Paired it with Feather blades and get fantastic shaves from it.
