Wade & Butcher Ottoman Egyptian and Royal Windsor Razor
Good Evening SRP!
I don't even know what to say about this one. Super excited. Super lucky. Right place at the right time. I don't know but I am glad to share it with the folks here.
Fortunately the seller didn't list it under its rightful name on Ebay so I might have had that in my favor. The price did grow steadily till it got down right excessive toward the end.
The unique call out of this particular W&B Ottoman is the misspelling of the word Egyptian on the face of the blade. Unfortunately or fortunately it's spelled Egyptain. I will leave the history of these Grail razors to those who know. Maybe it's a fake.
The only info about the razor on the listing was:
SOME INSIDE INFORMATION ON DELINQUENT STORAGE UNIT TURNED UP SOME INTERESTING ITEMS. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NEVER ANY INFORMATION ABOUT HE OWNER OR THE ITEMS THAT WERE STORED SO I'M NOT ABEL TO SAY TOO MUCH ABOUT THEM.
I wish it had a bigger backstory but ...that's it. That's all!
Thanks for looking & that's not my hand.
Cheers
Cheetah Meat

Thanked: 4826Nice score Cheetah. I doubt the spelling error on the blade face means much to most.
It's not what you know, it's who you take fishing!

Nobody fakes junk.
I do hope you plan to clean it up nicely. No offense to anyone but my personal view, for right or wrong, and no value judgement on dissenting opinions is what some call "patina," I call "dirty, rusty old crap."
I just simply don't understand why you wouldn't want it to look as nice as it could. YOMDIron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

Thanks Mark.
I was trying to explain the overall history of this razor to my fiancee the other day. I could tell that she was "granting me my soapbox space" but in the back of her mind I know she was rolling her eyes HARD. She just doesn't get it and that's fine.
But I love these little pieces of metal. The fact that they have soooo much history built into them. I love the stories, the folklore and the fact that they will out live each and every one of us...or can be passed down the loved one. As a designer myself, making something/ anything that would stand that test of time and be sought after 100's of years after it's creation is mind boggling.
