Thanked: 6Congratulations on a great razor! I have a 7/8 worked back square point similar to Padron's, but with American Bison Scales by RW that I ordered there. The tip on mine is also fairly rounded. It arrived shave ready and I have really enjoyed using it. I'm sure you'll be very happy with yours.
Enjoy!

I've been always been a sucker for wood or horn type scales. But no straight man can say no to such a lady in red =)
Hard steel makes me a bit nervous as well. But luckily we have an old school barber here in town I've found. Hopefully he is good at sharpening.Last edited by Chady; 03-01-2008 at 01:08 AM.

Can anyone comment on the grind of these babies? I'm looking for a nice large (7/8-8/8) with a fairly rigid blade (shallow grind I guess).
After I shave, I put down the razor and look into the mirror to admire my seconds old 5 o'clock shadow. Another consequence of such robust follicles is frequent ingrown whiskers. There seems to be a tide of opinion that the wedges and 1/4 hollows are most helpful in this regard.
Any other recommendations? Grateful for any suggestions.Last edited by Pudu; 03-05-2008 at 12:55 PM.

I've used my 7/8 Friodur, which is a hollow grind, with great success! It's a very rigid blade and sings like a bird when it's cutting. I did a 3 pass shave yesterday 2 WTG and 1 XTG above the jaw and 1 ATG under the jaw. Very smooth and long lasting!
I find I can cause ingrown hairs with any of my grinds. I've got a wedge that'll cause them just as easily. For me ingrowns are a function of closeness and direction.

Great. Thanks for the response and the advice. You make this seem a fairly attractive option for me.
I've been eyeing the 7/8 Friodur square point. Of course something would have to be done about those stock scales in the not too distant future - nice looking blade, the scales... meh.

I ordered the 7/8 Friodur square point with black handles. I'll let you guys know how it shaves when it gets here.
