Thanks for the input, Lynn. Since you've used this GDLP so often, it probably wouldn't surprise you that what clinched buying it for me was when I corresponded with a Woodworker that has taught classes for years specializing in Japanese woodworking. He's had the same Shapton GDLP and has allowed members of his classes through the years lap their various Japanese waterstones; untold numbers of stones. He said at this point, admittedly, the GDLP is noticeably not what it used to be, but it's still working. I know I'll never wear mine out!
