Thanked: 1For the lads that got a new Grelot from Martin and had to hone or refresh it. Would a 8000 DMT be sufficient or did you need to use a coarser stone. Or did you only have to use some diamond paste or Cro? I only have a DMT 8EE and would like to know if I would need to get a DMT 8E too. That Grelot looks damn inviting!

Thanked: 79I'll bet *this* might be worth a look for anyone interested in cleaning a Grelot up themselves and giving it a whirl at a much more entry level price....
It would of course, be a bit more of a gamble, but it could pay off...
I'll hold off on it for a little bit (the shipping is a bit high to the US) but it is very interesting.

For those of you who might be interested in getting a TI razor (or any razor) from Martin Neinberg, I can say I've bought three razors from him, and have received excellent service. Martin is a pleasure to deal with, and I think his honing service is quite good.

Thanked: 735Depends on what YOU consider "shave ready".
I think that a few trips on the DMTEE would be just fine, followed by some pastes.
I hit mine up with 6 micron (8k) and 3 micron (4k) diamond lapping film, followed by 1micron and Crome Ox pasted hanging strops. HHT like a champ, and shaves nice and smooth.
Great razor!
