Thanked: 735I'm looking forward to the shave!
I will most likely re-scale it myself at some point, but for now putting a fine edge on it is what I'm after.
It is definitely a beauty!

I am still waiting for my B&B le Grelot.

The prices seem really high on the German page even for the plastic scaled razors. I may be missing something, not being able to read German.

Thanked: 953The fancy horn ones are in the range of what the nice B&B ones are costing - so you're just paying for the nice scales.
The basic platic le grelot's are about $170 which is a really nice deal in my view for a great razor, but that's a lot less than the B&B version or the fancy rasurpur horn versions.

Concerning the prices displayed on Martin's site, I think they include the EU taxes. So if you want the price without them, you have to take almost 20 % off the prices displayed (if you want to ship to the US you will have to pay the US taxes, not the EU ones... and with luck, it could go through the customs unnoticed)...
So the price with the plastic scales (and belive me they are very good ones) would be around 92 euro (142$) without shipping. I think it is not asking too much for it...Last edited by Ockham; 05-15-2008 at 08:44 PM.

To be fair to the B&B version, they will also have a mirror polish. A trait I could take or leave, but it certainly increases the cost.

This is correct. The Le Grelot from Martin is cheaper than one might think because texes are taken out - I actually almost jumped out of my chair I was so happy when I got the paypal bill because it was far lower than I expected taking the Euro price and running the exchange rate. So in the end the horn LG on Martin's site are I think very roughtly similarly priced to the B&B I think. I think both are very good deals, so I echo whomever said no one is saying the B&B isn't a good deal. My only point was if you want a cheap LG get the plastic ones from Martin, if you want horn or pink ivory you'll pay more for the nice scales (duh), but I think it's worth it and would get the horn ones myself if I hadn't just bought two razors. But bottom line is it's a great razor no matter what it's scaled in.
By the way, the Martin Le Grelot may not officially have a mirror finish but I think it's close - it's a very nice clean looking mean shaving blade.
