This item Antique GENCO MANAGER GENEVA N.Y. Straight Razor - eBay (item 160242020267 end time May-25-08 17:30:00 PDT)
I want to know,
1. Is this strange form of heel result of restorarion?
2.Is this rasor a good shaver?

The heel looks to have been profiled. Basically had a bit missing so was rounded up to make it look as though thats the way it should be. I don't think it would compromise the integrity of that razor.

looks like they took out a chip in the heal should shave ok though

Yeah, I just looked at it again and I am pretty certain that its just a shadow and the blade is complete!

IMHO,The easiest way is to see original in any catalog, if there is
, who knows?

I just inspected two of my Genco's. My 11/16th has a similar heel, but my 5/8's heel is different:

Send her out to a hone meister and then start many happy years of shaving with that straight.
The profiled heel just takes away from the original look, but not by very much. I think it was a good way to save that razor from the trash. Is long as there aren't any hidden cracks.
If you decide you don't like it, I will happily take it off your hands and I won't even charge you.
