Start of a collection
After seeing the Sweeney Todd movie, and being a blade enthousiast for several decades, I wanted to expand my knife collection to include straight razors for display purpose only.
I allready bought these via eBay:
Tally Ho Sheffield
Wade&Butcher
Friodur
...and have my eye on several others.
I love large bladed razors the most. The more extravagant the blade, the more I like it !
I'll be posting better pictures once they arrive.
ps: I've also ordered some Autosol metal polish, easier to come by here in Europe and hopefully as good as MAAS :-)Last edited by chibbi; 06-04-2008 at 06:19 PM. Reason: Spelling and grammar errors

Ah yes, and I paid some learning money allready... these new razors I bought couldn't even shave the hair of of my arm:
Kinda nice box though... might use it to put in some more serious collectables

What brand are the razors in the 7 day set? If they're new, you do know that factory edges are almost never "shave ready" edges?
I like the razors you've picked up so far for display. I suggest you try shaving with a properly honed straight razor and stick around to enjoy the experience and company here. Welcome.

I bought them at this shop eBay Shop - Simplee-Natural-Skin-Care: Wir verkaufen Mens Grooming, Nail Clippers Nippers, Hairdressing Barber.
Since I'm not about to really use them, it doesn't matter that much. I just like all my blades to have hair-popping sharp edges... even when they almost never leave their display. I'm kinda funny that way
I've allready added this site to my Bookmarks and have learned alot just by lurking around a bit. Much information to take in, but I've got the time.
Cheers,
Ray

Well Ray, I still think you should try shaving with a straight razor; man, is it fun!
As you know, being a knife guy, the term "razor sharp" is loosely used to describe a lot of edges. For years I would hone the blades of my pocket knives I have (I always have a pocket knife on hand) until the edges would pop arm hairs or at the least shave arm hairs. I referred to those edges as "razor sharp" and quite honestly assumed they were. I've since learned there is a big difference between and edge that can cut arm hair and an edge that is truly sharp enough to comfortably shave whiskers!

Say a friend comes over to visit and sees your razor collection... he/she smiles and says, "Do they work?"
You can say "Of course they work!!, why have it if it doesn't work..."
Then you can back it up with proof.

Nah, I'll keep just keep using my Braun electric shaver. *blasphemy... I know *
I received the first two razors and will post pics of them as soon as I receive the polish I ordered, so that I may first clean them up a bit...
Just won two more razors to add to the growing collection:
George Bultler & Co's Celebrated Keen Cut Throat Razor w/original box

Just really liked the quote from Shakespeare on the blade
And another razor with a nice tooled spine and its original box aswell

If anyone knows something more on these, I'd be glad to learn
