Default Hi, my name is Blazed, and I'm an addict

Haven't even been straight shaving for a month, and I'm already hopelessly addicted

My latest acquisition, purchased from Buddel, from his site: www.fine-razors.de

Because you donŽt can understand, what I wrote to the razor, I will give you a short translation:

Blade: 6/8 Bengall, with ligth pitting marks, no rost, no nicks, shave ready
handle: walnutwood and myrtlewood, oiled and with over 10 layers of shellack
    wedge: tin and vulcanfibre
    pivot: adjustable

    Best regards
    Gabor

I can't wait for it to get here

Very nice piece; those scales rock ! I really like the pattern. Let us know how it shaves and, most of all, ENJOY!

The scales are what hooked me. The minute I saw it, I knew I had to have it, but I wanted to sleep on it for a day before I pulled the trigger. Sure enough though, I ended up buying it, now I just have to patiently wait for it to get here

I was looking at the exact same blade yesterday!!!!!

It is the scales that draw you in, they are very nice indeed.

Oh well, congratulations on your new aquisition.

So I decided to take some comparison shots between my Wilbert and my new Bengall:

Beautiful scales on a very nice razor. Congrats!

Thanks for posting pics. It looks like both woods are joined with some sort of bonding between the woods which fill in the kerf between the two pieces?

I always like to try to figure out how something is done.

I wonder if he stacks 4 slabs on top of each other, makes his cut through all slabs in the same cut, then pairs the lighter colored top slabs to the bottom darker slabs filling in the kerf with epoxy or some such thing?

Chrisl, as far as I can tell that would be the only way to make it work is by stacking, using a blade with a very fine kerf!

Those scales are absolutely awesome. If it were not for the shipping to the US, I picked that one up a couple of weeks ago when I first saw it. I love that razor with those scales. Stunning!!!

Shipping it registered mail from Germany to Kansas City, MO was only about $10.50
