Another wonderful razor box from OldBlades
Tim made this wonderful box for me. It is walnut, with a maple inlay, bearing my Coat of Arms. I finished and assembled it.
Sanding, 4 coats of walnut stain, some antiquing for the maple, 3 coats of satin poly, one coat of wax. Sanding between coats of stain and poly: 220, 320, 420, 0000 steel wool.
Green felt lining.
Very nice. I will use it for traveling (in a car, not a plane....TSA....eek!)
Thanks Tim! It was great to work on.

Thanked: 1587Very nice box. How well do the razors stay in place for travel?
Nice motto too, by the way.

It depends on the razor...some of the long TIs just sit there, other are held in place by the tang/tail. I haven't used it for a trip yet, but I think when i do, it will have a piece of microfiber cloth folded on top (it should be nice and soft for padding).
Re: the motto...thanks! Latin student?

Also, the retaining pieces at each end...Tim has had the foresight to make them so you can install them in differnt ways, on their sides, like I have them or with the openings facing up. I did a test fit of my most common sized razors first.
Thanks again Tim!

GOOD LORD! That looks great! BTW What is the motto in American/English?

Thanked: 1587Thanks Wirebeard. I will have to do something about those boxes - I've been kind of threatening Tim for ages that I may get one - but atm the aussie dollar is so poor against the greenback that I think I still must wait...
I wouldn't call myself a student of Latin, but I did study it a loooong time ago.

That box is beautiful,,,to all those that hadn't seen Oldblades' work,,, this is the norm, not the exception. His work is impeccable and quality through out. If you've been thinking about a box, let this push you over the edge.
