Basically you sandpaper it to the higher grits. You can finish with micro-mesh. Difference compared to acrylics or wood is that it will take much longer to achieve a perfect finish. Be patient and always make sure everything is uniform looking before moving up to the next higher grit sandpaper. You can also use a buffer if you have one for the last stage.

Now that the fingers are healed I have the scales roughed out and the blade 90% done. I should be able to finish everything this weekend and have pics on Sunday.

It is done and I will finish the pinning tonight. Pics tomorrow. It is the best that I could do and I believe that if someone with a buffer wanted to give it a go it would be better.

You're building the suspense - and that wasn't little to begin with!

Here is the thread. It is not finished as far as the sanding of the scales. The blade is as good as it is going to get.
I had a couple of different scale shapes, but this one I like the best.
Let me repeat I still need to finish sanding the scales.

Sorry for the delay. I have only weekends and limited tools.
Sorry for the pics. As I stated in another thread my camera died so I am using a cell phone. I still have to hinge pin the blade into the scales but I have it finished.
Zebra Wood with 5 coats of poly and a purple Sculpy wedge. Washerless pins.

Your Herder deserves the best in restoration. It is a really wonderful razor under the patina and grime. Congratulations!

Looking good Singlewedge; well worth the wait!
What made you decide to change the micarta scales? No nasty accidents I hope? Anyway, I believe zebrawood was a good choice. The micarta was already very nice, but I think I like this even better!

The micarta and I went round and round.
The micarta won. I put it on another razor I own. a 7/8 full wedge with notch.
I'll finish peening the razor and get it to the SRP?
