    I love these shops!
We sound like fishermen talking about their favorite spots on rivers and creeks! Only, we are more willing to share. Is your Wilkinson marked with the Wilkinson Sword logo, or was it made by T. Wilkinson? Either way, a fantastic find at an antique store!

But fishing is free. Buying razors costs us money. Even though we may envy the guy who bought the awesome razor, we are all comforted by the fact that our pocket book is safe and SWMBO is not gunning for us, or you in my case.

The restorations are coming along fine. The coticule looks like new, the W&B has no more rust, and I was able to get off about 98% of the pitting. It is sitting in an oil bath now, refreshing the scales. Pics will follow when I get the final polish on blade and scales. The bevel was fine and I anticipate no problems honing it up. What a neat find...hope I get lucky again like that, sometime!

    Croaker,

That's so cool. There are a few antique stores here in Maryland. I may have to make a trip over to Kensington tomorrow and see if I can find anything of value. Of course, I just won eight razors on ebay, and the one that I won today is soo sweet. The whole blade is gold though. Never seen one like that before.

Let me know what you think of it. It looks pretty cool.

boy, you guys aren't joking about nothing in your area -- I was in phoenix last Wednesday and decided to hit up a few antique stores. i went to about 7 in a big loop when I was in town from scottsdale -> indian school -> 16th -> central. only thing I found was a really nice felt cowboy hat for my son for $8.50. Theres a couple nice razors in the shop on Indian School & 16th, but, they are too expensive.

Hmmmm...if fishing is free (sometimes) the tackle is certainly not! I have a garage full of ocean rods, reels and tackle that I never use anymore, since AZ won't be beachfront until after the BIG ONE sinks Cali. I shudder to think of what it all cost! But no regrets, except for not getting out on blue water anymore.

Just WAIT until I post pics of my latest Tucson antique store acquisition!!
Truly a once in a lifetime score....happened today and it is spelled "Escher!" Honing on it right now and still in a state of pleased shock and disbelief.

I must admit I would not share and haven't shared. I found an antique shop in New England that has a barn with a milk crate full of razors. I pop by when I need another honing project. I am not telling . . .

I had the worst luck with the antique stores. When I did finally find a razor they thought they had gold and wanted 75 for it or 100 for the set including the brush. Oh come on.... It was a W&B with cracked scales and rust, the brush was smelly and had lost lots of hair. Needless to say I left with nothing.

I think I will have better luck at garage sales.
