Gotta love antique shops. Lots of razor pr0n!
Here's a link to my findings. The J.A. Henckels I got at one shop on Sunday, and all the rest were at a single shop today. Found the str8s on a shelf marked 50% off and couldn't help myself.

Towards the bottom of the first page is a razor with a wooden shank and tail. The tail is backwards. I'm curious to know if there is a purpose for this or if it's probable that someone just messed up putting it together. This particular razor also has no makers mark of any kind on it. Kinda weird. May just be under the wood or some such, who knows.
P.S. I'm going to post the pics in the hone section, but I'd be delighted if anyone could tell what kind of hone is in the pics (end of page 1, all of page 2). It seems to be very fine and hard, it eats wet/dry sandpaper like there's no tomorrow. I'm giving up lapping it until I get a DMT.

Excellent finds!! Hone wear looks to be minimal on most of them. The Platinum looks to be in great shape and is a great find by itself. Keep the antique shop/flea market finds coming! We can all increase our collections w/ minimal cost this way!

Unreal! You hit what an 1849 gold miner would call a "pocket". An experienced pocket hunter would sometimes take $10,000 in gold out of the ground in two lucky shovels full. My happiness with your great find is not unmixed with envy, however! I love old Torrey's and Henkels too.

Apparently I missed the real mother-lode. I went to a different antique shop today and the female owner said that her husband collects straight razors (which is why they had none for sale).
Apparently he had just gone to the same store I found those ones at and picked up about 15. I was late by less than a week.
I wish he had been there to talk to. From what she said he has so many razors now that he only buys the really rare or unique ones. I'm very curious as to which 15 the SOB absconded with before I got there.
Well...I guess he's not really an SOB, but I'm jealous so I can say what I want!
P.S. Any thoughts on the one with the backwards wooden tail?

Good Job, I haven't had any luck at the local places. When I said "Escher" they just look at me and said, "God bless you".......
