    Default PAYDIRT!!!!!

Once a month there is a HUGE "antique faire" in Alameda, CA at the old Alameda Naval Air Station. It is held on the side of the old main runway, and has hundreds of vendors. Here is a link:

So, my better half and I got there at 6am when they opened, and I methodically went from booth to booth on the prowl for anything shave related. I spent ALL DAY there, and came out with some diamonds in the ruff, and 1 shining jewel.

    Here come the pictures.

The first item is a badger brush in good shape, $6.00

The next is a small Spike razor, $10.00

Next up we have a Royal Keen Kutter. The pictures look worse than it really is, there is no rust on the edge, mostly it is discoloration, but there is one ugly rust spot on the back side .... It cost a whopping $7.00 .... so I thought I'd take a gamble with it.

Next I found a Wade and Butcher. The scales are cracked ... who cares. Some nice new scales and a little clean up and it will be as good as new!

A little time later, I found this box in a glass case. I asked to see the razor, and the guy said it only has the blade .. no scales ... what a piece of junk.

What a waste of time .... or was it? This is what is inside the box:

A Dubl Duck Satinwedge in ok condition, $10.00

Next up we have the find of the day. I wiped the oil off of it so it wouldn't stain the mat in my lightbox. It is a BRAND NEW UNUSED Sta-Sharp "Fine Chromized Steel" in cracked ice scales .... I broke the bank and spent $50.00 on this one.

Finally, I have a group shot of all the loot:

Thanks for letting me share my good day at the flea market with you!

Very nice finds! I never knew there was such a market, and only 5 miles from my house too! Maybe I'll go there next time.

Great finds! All of these razors will be great shavers. Posts like this are my favorite. What makes it even better is that your better half joined in on the hunt! It's reat to see someone get a great buy on shaving stuff. From what I have been paying for local finds you prices are very good.

I was there too Antioch. Great flea market. My mom actually sells there. I was half expecting to see some of my razors in your lot. She's selling a few for me there. I always find some there when I walk around. Never as nice as your haul though. Congrats.

I'm quite jealous. I was out there for half the day and the only thing I got was a wicked sunburn. Nice work!
