Default Thistle cut and Old English Razor

Picked these 2 up yesterday, Both are 7/8, The Thistle Cut is a 3/4 hollow, the Old English (says Frederick Sheffield) is a wedge

I have to double check but I think they are related to Case somehow, I do know that they take a super sharp edge....

That Reynolds looks a lot like the one you and Jr helped me sort out. I hope your's isn't as stubborn as mine was.

    Nice finds!

There is a little miss information in my post. It's a 'Frederica", I think. The stamp is worn at the end of the name but I think it ends with an 'a' and three is no room for Reynolds at the end?? Also it's a 6/8s. Sorry for the size error and the name is still an issue. I think. Gotta check it out better later tonight or tomorrow.

I was thinking of saving the honing for the meet, but maybe I'll hone it tomorrow just in case it is stubborn.

    Thank you.

Occasionally we will expand our search area. The Gaines, shown in another thread, was from an extended search. These two were from a ;oca; [;ace we picked up straights from in the past.

Thanks Glen. I was going to ask about the steel origin. Besides the name the only markings are New York, U.S.A. I was going to hone it up tonight and use it for my big 4th shave tomorrow. I recently read a post asking about American steel over 6/8s. I'll have to look for it and mention this straight in the post. It is a full 7/8s and I can't wait to take it for a spin! Got this one for the price of a Happy Meal and it's in really great condition after cleaning.

It's possible you've got the same alternate stamping as mine. Though most I've seen do say "Frederick Reynolds" on them, mine says
    Frederick's
    Celebrated Razor
    Sheffield

If I've still got mine around come meet time, I'll bring it along so we can compare. At the least, I'll be sure to get a good photo of the tang.

Now that is quite possible. I didn't know that they used Fredrick's as a stamp. Guess I will hone that one tomorrow and see how long it takes. Hopefully the stubbornness of your razor was an exception and not the rule, like the Geneva we played with that one day.
