Can I join too? This is my warranted. I have been told that it has tortoise shell scales and that is good enough for me.

No Sir. They are mottled horn.

Thanks I wasn't sure since they didn't have the usual grain of horn I thought they might be Tortoise.

Yes, this one looks like VERY old tortoise shell to me. Extremely dry, though. A very gentle application of a quality oil like Neatsfoot would preserve it and bring out the shine. Nothing will lighten up the age darkening that I know of, though. Very nice razor and probably pre-1830, in my opinion.
