From all the DD's I've personally shaved with the wonderedge was the best.
Great buy!

We just got lucky on this find. We usually find stuff that needs a lot of work to bring them up to shave ready.

The pictures posted were right out of the box, no cleaning at all. The back of the blade I think shows the original oil which was dried up. I gave it a wash with soap and water then a bit of Maas and there isn't a mark on the blade. These blades hone up very quickly and I expect to have it shave ready tonight.
We saw this blade a couple of weeks ago. It was priced lower than EBay prices but more than I wanted to pay for an antique shop find. When CarrieM found that the price was marked 50% off you should have seen her face! At that price it was an exceptional buy and we started stacking pennies. We almost didn't go to this shop as we would have been late in getting Jr back to his Mom and we really didn't want to hear her song. Never got to finish the search at that place as we exceeded our budget. I wonder what we missed?!

Update:
I put the Wonderedge to the hones last night and took my time with it. It was very humid here and I just wanted to get it done w/o distractions from the sweat getting into my eyes. I few laps on the 4k with marker on the bevel proved the blade was flat. A TNT at this point showed that it was close but needed a bit more on the 4k. 30 seconds of circles per side and 10 laps brought it real close. Another 30 seconds per side and it was popping arm hairs for the entire length of the blade. I don't have a lot of arm hair due to testing edges so I go after one hair at a time at different sections of the edge.
Onto the 8k. Another 30 seconds per side in circles and 10 laps. Coticule next with the same routine. Lastly the Escher with around 20 laps. Total honing time including clean up, 15 minutes.
Shave test: I tried to do a complete shave with this blade. The shave was exceptional but the sweat getting into my eyes with the essence of lime made it hard to see. Towards the end I had to shave a lot with my eyes closed due to the stinging and watering. I decided to leave well enough alone and end the shave. Everything was shaved BBS except the center of my neck which ofter needs a touch up. I'm looking forward to the next less humid day when I can really give this blade a workout with my eyes wide open!Last edited by Joed; 07-28-2009 at 12:04 PM.
