    Default Junk Store Joseph Elliot

My folks went on vacation and found this in a junk store in Dolores, CO for $15 and brought it back to me as a gift.

On the tang: Joseph Elliot's Best Silversteel
On the blade: "An Excellent Razor"
Scales: Appear to be wood, in need of a sanding.
    Grind: Looks like a 1/4

I'm not sure I'm too fond of the taper from heel to toe. Were razors ever made that way, or is this from bad honing?

    Worth saving? Thanks in advance.

    Best,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,

I have a Marshes & Shepherd that is identical to that blade, etching and all. It was made with the taper and is not a result of bad honing. Definitely worth saving.

From your picture, there looks to be little to no hone wear, so the shape is probably not from honing.

If your gonna hone that yourself you should be familiar with a rolling-x stroke.
