I thought I would post a few photos of some of the other items I acquired in this lot that I missed in the original post.

I also got two shaving mugs and a Wizard Hone. An Old Spice mug(I have 2 now), an orange painted wooden shaving bowl(with gold paint in the interior), I actually found the hone in the bottom of a deep pocket in a damaged folding shaving bag as part of the lot.

I do not think I would dare to use the wooden mug given the possibility that lead paint was used. I do not know.

Fortunate haul! I would make you a small bet that the pearl tang Boker ends up being the best shaver. The rest of the lot is great too. The hone might work with some lapping to remove the chips. I have some barber hones that looked worse when I acquired them, that can still do a fine touch up job.

    Excellent find!

I don't think I would worry about lead paint, unless you plan on eating the lather you whip up

But if you're still concerned with it, you could always strip the paint off yourself, then maybe oil the wood to help with water absorption.

Good luck! Look forward to seeing more pics

too funny. Mid you the Caslte Forbes Essential Lime shaving cream smells delicious. hmmm I wonder how it tastes. Good idea on stripping the paint. I think I'll do that. Does anyone know what type of wood they used in these old bowls? I imagine it could be just about anything. More pictures coming soon.

Funny you mention that. I am currently working on that one to get it into shave ready shape. We will see.
