    Default What I got today.

    Hi all,

None of you know me yet. I just joined the other day. I did introduce myself in the noobie corner though.

Anyway, I acquired what I think was a good deal at $50. I got 2 shaving mugs, 2 shaving brushes, a double sided strop, a hand trimmer, 2 Boker Straight razors one being a Cutter King(2 chips in the blade) and the other a Finest Quality with MOP, and a Fredrick Reynolds 6/8 full hollow ground square point. I suspect the Fredricks and the Boker Finest quality will clean up immaculately. There is a pin point of surface rust on the Boker Finest, but no big deal. See pictures below.

I have a questions about the Boker Finest Quality. Can someone tell me the width they are suppose to be. Is it 5/8" or 6/8" or 11/16"? Right now it measures up as 21/32"(a bit under 11/16"). I'm trying to judge the amount of honing that has been done on it. Thanks in advance.

Oh, also, is anyone familiar with this strop? What kind of leather?

Wow, that is a seriously amazing deal. What a great way to get started. Now all you need to do is to get those blades shave ready. Welcome, and congrats.

Nice razors you've got there. The one Boker appears to have a chip that will need to be dealt with but from the photos they don't appear to have much hone wear to my eye.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Started Working on them tonight. Cleaned them up and took the Fredrick Reynolds to the hone. I'll finish tomorrow I hope.

A few chips and nicks. I got the nicks out of the Fredrick Reynolds this evening. Now to work on the fine edge. Thanks.
