The razor was made until 1910. In 1910 the Newark operations was closed.

Very interesting. I've never seen a Electric cut co from Newark with that blade. I will be keeping my eyes peeled on the bay. Let us know how the shave is once it is brought to speed.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The scales are awesome IMO, I guess you old timers have seen way cooler ones. Much nicer than the average plane jane to have something on them at least.
Congrats on the find.

Thanked: 2I haven't been to the Newark Library in quite a while (since college in the late 80's to early 90's) and may need to take a trip. I know they have a lot of historical information about the businesses there. It was a very big industrial area and still is to a degree.
I live in one of the border towns (Bloomfield, NJ) and went to school at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, NJ.
It is amazing what you will see in some of the old buildings and the area in general. There is fantastic old stone work on buildings with the names of original occupants of companies which are long gone and have been refit with retail or treated like warehouses for office workers or storage.
If I get a chance to visit the library in the near future and find any information about razor manufacturing in the area, I'll be sure to post.
I find it incredible to find more history about my area. I take a lot of pride in NJ and am pretty much dual homed in NJ and Louisiana (married a Southern gal)...

I have an Electric Cutlery french point, looks to be about a 4/8ths, that I got as part of an ebay lot. Its in decent shape, and has the interesting molded plastic faux-crocodile scales. I didn't love them when I got it and considered a rescale, but its grown on me. The blade is a very cool shape in my opinion, shoulderless with a sort of a chisel shaped point toward the spine. I did a quick hone on a Norton 4k/8k (I'm a novice at honing), and gave it a go. I lived in NJ for about a year, so I like the connection as well. Good shave, and an interesting razor to be sure...

Thanked: 101I bought a cigar box of damaged razors at a flea market & there was a trashed Electric Razor in the box. Broken edge & all. It is cool looking. The scales are plain. Want to find a good one!
