Thread: Big Heljestrand...and a few questions

I've been collecting MK for a couple of years and I have found that the measurements are all over the place for many of the MK razors. Not so much the earlier razors but rather the razors that were made during the last years of the company. This would be just before they entered into an export agreement with the Kindals, which granted Kindal the sole distributorship in France. Prior to this time most Heljestrand razors were consumed by the local market, few were exported. When Heljestrand entered into the Kindal agreement it was a last ditch effort to save the company and while quality didn't change everything else got sloppy, especially the numbering. 30, 31, 32 and 33 models (maybe more) were often interchanged and marked the next closest razor (e.g.. 30's were marked 31's, 32's were marked 33s and 33's were marked 32s). My assumption has been that the company was basically clearing inventory, you know - everything must go. In talking about blade width it is more appropriate to talk and measure in mm as that was the standard used. Here are my CV's and you can see the numbering is as inconsistent as the weather.
