I've wanted one since before I started straight shaving, they have such a clean elegant look. Does anyone know if any of the "finishers," those that mark a razor with their initials, are known for more consistency? I've just been wondering. Buying one is in the distant future for me but definitely on my short list.

I picked a hardly used one from the classifieds sometime ago and I have to agree with the praises. But what has struck me most is how it holds the edge. I have probably used mine 20x and it has not yet needed a touchup.

Well, I got to shave with it for the first time this morning and I was very pleased. I don't know how Hart prepares their edges, but I was surprised that right out of the box, without stropping, this razor performed as well as it did. It was very smooth and comfortable. The balance, in my opinion is perfect, and the large shank adds to the ease of handling.

This was my first shave with this razor, so I'm reserving judgment, but I do anticipate this razor being my #1 in no time. I really think I will be purchasing another Hart in the future.

    Default Comparo

    Bones, Thank You!

They're doing something right - sending out w/ a good edge. I'm dying to hear how you compare it to either your Stosser wedge or whatever else you have that's a close configuration. The gold std for me will be the 6/8 1/4 hol. Wacker Spanish point, followed closely by the Stosser. So the edge is good, balance is good. 'Very interested in how your experience goes. Pls. keep posting your impressions.

Well, so far I have one shave on my Wacker and my Hart. So far Hart > Wacker, but I will keep you posted.

Are there any blades you would compare it to?

    Thumbs up Enjoy

Nice Hart Frank. Enjoy both it and the Sölgen. You are certainly going to fall in love with the Sölgen. Shorter blade, but just as efficient and more maneuverable as its cousins.

    Thanks Robert!

I know this is the "Hart Thread," but I honed the Solgen last night and shaved with it this morning. I loved it! I am a honing novice, but this thing basically sharpened itself. It is so easy to maneuver....I'm very please with it.

    Congratulations, Frank!

I've wanted a Hart for a long time, and you're pushing me closer to the edge...
I love wedges, and the Hart seems ti fit the bill perfectly!

    Beautiful razor! Enjoy it...

    Default forgive the ignorance

But I don't know if Solgen is a brand, or short hand for soligen. 'did a search on 'solgen' and didn't see anything. 'Hopefully it's not another blade to torture the rad.
