I know this is the "Hart Thread," but I honed the Solgen last night and shaved with it this morning. I loved it! I am a honing novice, but this thing basically sharpened itself. It is so easy to maneuver....I'm very please with it.
Awesome Frank...Enjoy it and the Hart. Looking forward to seeing them both on SOTD soon.

Definitely a RAD pusher . The blade reads "SOLGEN Real Japanese Hollow Ground". You can check out this link for more info:

    See this thread:

I don't think you have to worry about the RAD with this blade. I think I got the last one.

Edit: Well, it looks like there are two left, but they are damaged. I say that it is worth it for that price and then throw on a cheap new set of scales. Heck, I might replace the scales on mine.

Too late for the two with broken scales I snagged them a while ago actually recieved them earlier this week. I loved the first one (great condition) so much I grabbed the other two minutes after they came up just need to have them rescaled and I'll be set.

I just got a Hart as a gift. It is a great razor that could be exceptional if it had jimps and if it came with a round point.

While it does not have jimps, it does now come with a round point. I for one do not think either of those things makes the razor exceptional, as they are subjective. Just my opinion of course.

I have owned two of them (down to one now) and I love the shave off of the one that I have.

    You can see mine here:

It is a joy to shave with for sure!

As far as holding the edge? I have not tried the new carbonsong TI's, but I have not had any production razor, new or vintage, that has kept an edge as long. It's probably because of the hard steel used on the Hart. I have observed the same with the RW, Chandler and Harner razors I have tried - again probably due to the hard steel.

The way I see it, a Hart is a less expensive way to get a functional, basic, well handling razor but uses good high carbon steel that's normally reserved for customs.
