Question for the honers. When I sharpen this, since it is a wedge, wont the patina be taken off the sides of the blade anyway?
I have honed a few hollows, never a wedge.

No, it was created on a large round stone so there is a hollowness to it. Wedge = 1/4 hollow usually.
Unless you grind the heck out of it the sides will not touch stone.The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
