Thanked: 198one of my new projects. thos shaw
I stopped at a local thrift store, the same one that bharner stopped at actually, and picked this one up, i picked up a colley &co razor also, but this is the only one i have a pic of currently, any info on the mfg would be appreciated, i must say though, while i was worried about hone wear, with a 1/4" thick spine, i do believe that it is currently a moot point.

I really like that style of blade with the deep barbers notch? I have a Bengall cast steel that looks very similar. Good luck honing it up! I quickly gave up on it. I was getting nowhere with it. Which stinks because that's an awesome blade shape.
I like it though! You should post the after pics when your done with it. I'd like to know how it shaves too!

Thanked: 1936Good looking razor. I looked at my copy of Goins and couldn't find anything in either Tho, Shaw, or a combination. Either way the blade looks great and has a lot of potential if you put the time into it. Main issue that I have with wedges is stropping them. I love to shave with them, but getting them there and right will take a bit of time and patience. Enjoy!

Thanked: 198well i am working on just removing some of the patina, i intend on letting the age speak for itself, so i am not going to mirror finish it, i will replace the scales in time, but for now, i am gonna just keep working with rubbing compound and maas, and then hone it, or at least try to hone it

Hi,
Wow! that is a big blade. From the sound of the other posts, you'd think honing it is going to be trouble. It'll just just take a little longer is all.

As I have no experience on the hones, I'm not sure. However, both people who have honed my little wedge up used tape. Also, I'm not going to tell you about the pair of Greaves that are in there right now. One with the stub tail and one with the Late Greaves and longer tail. It's got a funky half frown half smile on it but it sure is purty. If I had stones beyond a bhone and a finisher that just came in the mail today I would have picked up... That place is dangerous to my wallet...
