picked this up for 20 bucks at a not too jampacked outdoor antique sale. i don't like to haggle with people who are trying to make a living so i just whipped out the whipout. he said people had offered him 17 or 18. what's the extra couple of bucks?
anyway, the swaty label was on the bottom, so i didn't know what i was looking at till he said it was marked on the other side.
i'm going to try to lap it smooth. i don't know if that's glue or what on it. he also had a nice clean razor with a brockton mass stamp on it, but i don't need it right now.

it didn't smooth out on the A side. it's pitted, but the back is in useable shape. i think it's kind of cool, the little homemade box. but the day gets better. i'm out in the rain picking up garden debris left by swmob, and we get a call from Saw Mill Pottery in Putnam CT. my custom soap bowl, with a delicate little cover, is ready. i'll post a pic when i pick it up. the woman who made it was very interested in the whole scuttle/soap bowl thing.
