Nice little la nouvelle veine select grade coti/bbw combo..
Big thanks to J1mmyman and to fortunate that he is only 5 mins drive away.
Thoroughly decent chap
Just acquired a nice coticule from him and had a good natter on honing & razors.
Anyway here's some pics..

That's a gorgeous shade of yellow when whetted...like a canary.

Thanks, it has a lovely shade to it I must admit. The chap I bought it off also has a la dressante kosjer upper layer coticule which has a pinkish tinge to parts of it. I was tempted but thought the combo would be more useful. This one also has a slight salmon tinge to it when wet also. He (J1mmyman) said the Nouvelle was the better and looked like he didn't want to part with it but having a nice select bout and a Les Latneuses (beautiful hone) it wasn't too much of a strain to part with it lol.

There are two sides of the La nouvelle layer, one is slow all around, the other is very fast on slurry and slow in water. The one I had was so fast in slurry it could turn the slurry back in 5-10 strokes. It was one of the best finishing coticules I had because of the slow polishing on water.
I've never seen one that was a BBW combo before. That's actually a great size for a coticule hone you can hold it and hone and learn the feel.

Well, I've just passed my St.&Co. sq point over it from slurry using the dilucot method (gradually adding water till clear) and even though I haven't spent as long on the clear water stage as I feel I should it has really touched up the edge of razor that was near shave ready. Several laps on a crox balsa and hair just fell off my arm.
I have to say though the razor in question is my finest shaver - starting from scratch with a fleabay special is another kettle of fish and one I'll try when I've got more time.
I did quickly pass my Klas Tornblom over the bbw using the bbw side of the slurry stone (nice sized stone as well) which produced a lovely brambly/redcurrant coloured slurry. It's getting there.. not quite shaveready but not far off.

Now, that is a nice looking Coticule. Reminds me of the Selected grade we use to buy. Nice score.
We have assumed control !
