This is the POS that I got. $15 and I figured that it would get a cut in it anyway since its my 1st. I should have looked at the reviews before I ordered... Oh well... u live and learn. ill practice stroping knives on it before my blades get back from getting sharpened and order a better one online. Anyone have any links to good low priced strops I could look at?

Whippeddog.com. Larry makes a poorman strop that is of known good quality and a good price. Also, he's a great guy and a true gentleman. He won't do you wrong.

I noticed that this kit doesnt come with canvas like some others do. But it does include the balsa strop, does it matter if i have canvas or should i pick it up some place else? I do like the low price he has on the 1/2 and 1/4 stones.

Canvas isn't necessary, but it is nice. I started with Larry's PMSK and after a few months talked SWMBO in to letting me pick up an SRD Premium II strop when it was on sale as strop of the month. The CrOx poweder/balsa is nice for touch ups.

Excited to start my 1st shave in a week or so.
Sending my blades out in the next day or so for sharpening (Contacted Lynn about his services and got an email back in less than a couple hours).
Blades $3 each from friends yard sale.
    After Shave Balm $3.50
    Stick $.98
Brush, Soap Bowl, and Soap combo from VDH $9.90
    Glass Bowl from walmart $1.50

My strop should be here Monday. Also coming in Monday should be my Cream from Art of Shaving (yes the cream is the most expensive part of my kit)

Once I get the hang of this skill I plan on stepping up my kit. But its not that bad of a start for a broke college student.
im a broke college student too.. we all gotta start somewhere.. if you want you can pm me and i can point you to a whole bunch of places you can get good quality stuff for cheap! stay away from those cruddy gillette products and that soap!
