They are thin, probably brass with a blue color between the scrolls. Looks like the design is was craved into the scales.

Does that say 'OTELLO' on the tang? I had an Anton Wingen that did, and stated 'Anton Wingen' on the reverse. An excellent shaver, but nowhere near as elegant as that. It says exactly what it is on the blade face!

Those are the most elegant and ornate metal scales I have ever seen. Aluminum scales frequently have nice etchings, as do sterling silver and sometimes brass scales, but never colors, IME. Congratulations!
