Thanked: 1185Curse this Infernal RAD!
This Afternoon's Flea Market Scores
Not that I needed two more razors by ANY stretch of the imagination but for $9 a piece what was I to do? The top razor is a Torrey Barber Notch. Judging from its appearance (which is nearly new) I'd say it was a product of the company's later years (some time between the late 40's and early 60s). The more rustic looking gentleman on the bottom is a Wm. Elliot and Co. This company opened in 1880 and made razors until they shut down in 1907. For its age, it's still in amazing condition. While its a long way from shave ready, the edge is even still quite keen and should be good to go with minimal cleaning and a few laps on the stone. Oh well, razor restoration is a constructive activity that will keep me distracted from boozing and loose women for the weekend. Although I fear if SWMBO is in the mood to play the role of a loose woman, I could probably be pretty easily distracted from my laborsThe older I get, the better I was

One of these days I'm going to have to go to the Oldsmar flea market and see what I can see.

Thanked: 1185Damn, my secret fishing spot has been compromised! There's an old guy and his wife (both retired) that have a booth with lots of knife stuff, a small glass case in the corner of the booth can sometimes yield some nice (and quite affordable) treasures. Needless to say I've done pretty regular business with these folks and most of my rotation are rescues from Oldsmar. The flea market on Gunn Highway is not near as consistent but occassionally I've stumbled on some beauties there too.

Thanked: 48I gotta start checking out flea markets around atlanta. To this point all of my razors are big dollar buys off the bay.
