Thanks guys... she is absolutely beautiful to look at. It has some heft, but is perfectly balanced. This is my first large straight razor (8/8) and first sharp-point; I normally use 5/8 & 6/8 size blades with round points. First shave went well, I had a little trouble under my nose and around my chin, but that issue will iron itself out with more use. I didn't nick myself with the point, so I must have been doing something right. I also found the smiling "meat chopper" edge was quite easy to move around the contours on my face and neck... it almost seemed easier than my flat edge razors. I'll have to get several more shaves with this razor under my belt to find the groove and give a better impression. ...but so far I am very pleased.

Hey, Capt, nice to hear about your first shave.

I have yet to report on my 8/8 custom Charlie Lewis Sheffield I received day before yesterday (flu sucks). But, like you, I totally appreciate the heft. This razor just does all the work, and all I have to do is gently guide her along my face. I only did the cheeks this morning, but this razor is definitely the finest whisker decapitator in my quiver. I'm ecstatic. I will post some pics later today or tomorrow.

    TGiF and Cheers!
