There are 2 different Marine Corps razors by Clauss the older of the 2 has USMC etched on the Blade and those razors date back to the Spanish American War The other the 1 like you have is Pre-WW I it has some type of coating on the blade to keep it from rusting that being said it will rust if not taken care of. I own both models and only shave with 1 or the other on the 10 of November. Get honed and enjoy a piece of History

Captain Samuel Nicholas formed two battalions of Continental Marines on 10 November 1775 in Philadelphia as naval infantry.[10] Since then, the mission of the Marine Corps has evolved with changing military doctrine and American foreign policy.
Clauss razors are great shavers.

The USMC was originated on Nobember 10 1775 by Captain Samuel Nichols in a bar called Tunn tavern by which starts an argument what was formed 1st the Army or the Marines. I believe it's the Marines but its a difficult thing to figure out historically
