Many kamisoris have pieces of wood on the sides of the "handle" and then they are wrapped with some string, that way the handle gets all round.
It's usually made to be a perfect place for rust to live in but that's how they did it, have never seen any wax or such used for protection.
If I would wrap one up now I would use wax, lacquer, paint or even epoxy for protection.
If you want something really nice, look at sword handles and how they wrap them.

I've got a kamisori with an unfeasibly skinny handle, and I've been thinking of black or clear plasti dip (for bulk and rust-proofing) and then a more traditional-looking wrapping.

I'd like to have one wrapped like a Samurai sword.
I wouldn't know where to start, but I do have some small pieces or rayskin laying around.

I thought about using ray skin but haven't done anything yet, if you do let us know and post some pics!

I went with the quickie plasti-dip solution, at least until I get this turkey's edge to cooperate. It's not the best-looking razor in the world, but it's a lot easier to hold now. If I decide to upgrade the look later on, this stuff just peels off.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the rest of the can of dip before it goes bad. I've coated the jaws of a vise, a saw handle and nearly coated an annoying squirrel, but I'm mostly drawing a blank.
