I'm pretty certain you need to take the razor apart which also takes some expertise. With the price of Fatboys pretty high, I think it is reasonable to have it restored by someone else. I don't know what you paid, but really nice Fatboys are fetching over $100.00 at times on Ebay.
Here is a restore and an original

Agreed. I'd only try the "home plating" on the standard 3 piece ones.
I picked up the whole lot in the picture including the fat boy for about $25. The only one that really needs repair is the open comb. It has two teeth bent.
I'll give the scrubbing bubbles and toothbrush method a shot and see where it goes from there.
I'm not overly concerned with fully restored, just fully functional. Unless its reasonable and attainable.
Nice pics btw!

Caswell has some inexpensive electroplating solutions. If I remember right, their gold plating solution was somewhere around $60.

Turns out they all cleaned up pretty nice, no plating needed.
I see what all the fuss is about with the Fat Boys...knocked 3 days of stubble down to bbs with no effort or irritation with a Gillette 7 o'clock!
