here's another post for a joseph elliot taper. My Wade & Butcher looks really close to this one. I wonder what the taper is for since there are those that say it was made like that

That is indeed the original shape. They seem to have only been produced for a handful of years at the end of Williams's reign and the beginning of Victoria's. I have a Greaves and a Joseph Elliot. I've seen, besides W&B, Marshes & Co Pondworks and one other I can't quite recall. They can be a bit of a pain to hone, but I love the shape. You can tell it's the blade design because the spine tapers toward the toe.
