Default James Johnsons Silversteel Straight Razor

I won this one in London so I'm waiting for it's arrival as well.
I will watch A Clockwork Orange while I wait.
I find it fitting to purchase this type of razor from the "old country"

5/8 th's hollow spine, spike point, no jimps, wedge grind

Horn scales, brass pivot and pin
Blade stained and with localised pitting as in photos. Cutting edge has no nicks or chips, though hasn't seen a honing in some time.
Horn scales clearly old, though unwarped.
    c. 1830's - 1840's ?

This might be my oldest razor yet. The style is so sleek. I like the curved/tapered blade action going on. I thought that I would be a 8/8 Wade and Butcher wedge fan for life but I might be changing my ways.

    BUT, it's ONLY a 5/8.....

It'll feel SO insignificant amongst ALL that big iron you own.

Rather than having you accused of being cruel to razors, send it my way where it'll feel more at home with brethren closer to its size and stature.

Or you could send all that big iron my way. LOL

    Neat old razor.

LMAO! You are too funny....I'm still waiting for this one to show up
I thought I was going to try to collect the really old "shoulderless" stubtail types but you're right. They are too small for me. Well at least I have 2 for my collection. You can't say that I didn't try.

I say we trade your latest Greaves masonic for my James Johnson so the Greaves will have some friends to play with. I can't wait till I decide which one of these blades that I will start my shaving career with. I will consult you when I'm ready though....LOL

My Greaves has a little brother to keep it company. It's ONLY 15/16th's.

I'm waiting for big brother Greaves to teach little brother Greaves the secret handshake.
