Default 1800's Derby silverplate Repousse floral 2pc shaving mug

Cheetah Meat signing in again. I appolllogize in advance if this is not the best place to post this but here goes.

    *DESCRIPTION:
This is an estate found vintage 1800's Derby Silverplate Floral Repousse 2 piece Shaving Mug. It measures 3 1/8" tall and 4 3/4" wide to the handle. It is in good used condition with some light wear and a couple of small dings in spots as shown(see pics). It has no rusting or corrosion. It has a wonderful repousse floral motif around the sides of the mug. It is marked on the bottom Derby Silverplate Co 43(see pic).

As I approach my first shave I'm getting pretty excited...not the "oh I'm a newbie - what should I buy kind of excited" cause I love to read up first and make some sort of educated guesses. But the kind of excited like here's some really interesting pieces of shaving history that I just purchased and what do you guys think?

This new found excitement is because there's so many other things that I hadn't considered before. The original plan was just to collect razors but just from reading the forum I'm going to take a STAB at the whole shaving part of it. Since I love vintage rich looking shiny objects I figured that I'd get the best looking shaving equipment that I could find so - I purchased this silver-plated mug. is it practical...I'm gonna say no. Have I any clue what I just bought...I'm gonna say no. Does it look like it belongs in a museum or mansion...DING, DING, DING...I'm gonna go with what's behind door 3 Chuck. It's got 2 pieces and a stirring utensil designed for short range attacks if ever cornered in the bathroom by thieves or other unsavory characters wearing waist coats and top hats.

    Some history on the company
    The Derby Silver Company

So when I sent out which ever blade that I decide to shave with, I wonder if I can send this mug out as well to be restored...
I still need a brush and a strop. I have my eye on some in both categorizes. I'm prepping for a Kings shave. Too bad it takes me almost a month to grow any facial hair.
Can't wait for this piece to show up. I have to buy some silver cleaner now....LOL

    Have at me

Beautiful piece!! I wouldn't do much of anything to it. The patina gives it character and I love the look!! Wish I had found it!! Congrats!!

    Regards,

    Howard

The only thing that's greener than the great patina is my envy. Congratulations, Sir!

Thank you thank you. When I'm done it looks like I can drink rich creamy frothy looking beers out of it.. just to add to that envy. I won't even clean it out first. I'll just have shaving cream floating around in my mug. A real mans drink...LMAo
