    Default Antique store finds

Out shopping Sunday and came across some that were way overpriced, but managed to find some gems in the 20-30 dollar range. One is a 7/8 round point Extra hollow ground razor with BUR and REGd on the tang and "Magnetized Steel Gauranteed 10 years" in Italian. Some pitting, but I did a light buffing and honed it up. Shaves fantastic! A few of these have come up in searches. The second was a Geneva with antlers on the tang, 5/8 spike point hollow ground that needed a light buffing and hone. Shaves great. I used different razors on different parts of my face. One that I believe is a 5/8 Wostenholm with craked scales, I can make out the "EBRO" on the tang and is a smaller wedge with barber's notch. It goes into the new scales pile. A pretty far gone 5/8 that I can't remember the name of, that when I got home I had to grind down about 1/32 to get rid of a crack.

My favorite is one that was marked "Civil War Era", a 6/8 wedge with horn scales and ".........ER then below that USE" on the well worn tang. I am pretty sure it is a Wade & Butcher for barber's use. The scales have the squarish end and some chipping and delamination on the top near the pivot. At first, I was just going to use the blade, but after soaking in evaporust and lemon oil, the brass pins shone brightly and the scales seem solid. I buffed it pretty lightly and honed it to great edge. This one may go into main rotation. I'll try to add pictures later.

Thanks to the SRP site and community for giving me the info to make more informed purchases!

I totally agree! Finding SRP not only for the help with purchasing razors, honing, stropping etc but for the Fellowship/Friendship and the Brotherhood we share! I've made some good friends here! A couple all the way from Australia! Whether in America, Germany or Down Under I consider them all Good Mates!

Yes, we need pics. Some of us also need to know where in Ohio you found them.

Here are some pics. I got them at heart of ohio antique mall off of exit 62 on I-70, near Springfield. The place is huge, well lit, clean. I didn't get to two of the wings. There are additional antique stores near exit 59?. Many of the prices were high, but some were reasonable

The case is a recent ebay purchase that will hold 32 razors, so I now have a goal. The last pic is of recent projects. A Buckeye hardware 4/8 with maple scales and rosewood wedge. Too small and sharp, I cut the crap out of my face when i tried it. One is a W&B with quartersawn mahogany, and one WB with zebrawood.
